Rock drills are among the most critical pieces of equipment in mining and construction. Without regular maintenance, efficiency drops and unexpected failures create serious costs.

1. Daily Pre-Shift Checks

Before every shift, inspect oil levels, air filters, and connection points. Small leaks detected early prevent major breakdowns later.

2. Proper Lubrication

Drifter lubrication is the single most important maintenance step. Always use manufacturer-recommended oil and never skip lubrication intervals.

3. Filter Replacement

Air and oil filters must be replaced at specified intervals. Dirty filters reduce performance and damage internal components.

4. Shank Adapter Inspection

Check shank adapters for wear and cracks daily. A worn shank adapter transfers energy inefficiently and accelerates piston wear.

5. Flushing System

Keep the flushing system clean. Blocked flushing holes cause overheating and premature bit wear.

6. Percussion Mechanism

Inspect the percussion mechanism for unusual vibrations or sounds. Early detection of piston or valve wear saves costly overhauls.

7. Rotation Motor

Check rotation motor pressure and flow regularly. Incorrect rotation speed leads to bit breakage and poor penetration rates.

8. Hose and Fitting Integrity

Inspect all hydraulic hoses and fittings for leaks, abrasion, and kinking. Replace damaged hoses immediately to prevent system contamination.

9. Overhaul Schedule

Follow the manufacturer's overhaul schedule strictly. A complete overhaul at the right time costs far less than an emergency repair.
